Dosage

The dosage of a protein powder states the amount usually used per serving, mostly given in grams and additionally in scoops. A typical serving is often around 25 to 30 g of powder, but the exact amount differs between products and manufacturer information. For highly concentrated products such as isolates, the recommended serving size may deviate slightly from that of classic concentrates.

The dosage given on the packaging serves as a guide and does not replace an individual look at your total daily protein requirement. How much protein makes sense overall depends on body weight, activity and the rest of your diet. People with kidney disease should seek medical advice before using protein powder regularly. A measuring scoop or a kitchen scale helps you stick reliably to the stated dosage in everyday life.

How to roughly assess your individual daily requirement is described in the guide Calculating protein requirement, and more on the powder itself is explained in the entry Protein powder.
